What is a steering committee? This is a group of individuals appointed to provide expert advice and recommendations to an organization or decision-making body. Advisory and steering committees are commonly used in various sectors, including business, education, healthcare, and government, to leverage the knowledge and expertise of its members to guide policies, strategies, and initiatives.
Objective: The Steering Committee governs, provides strategic oversight, accountability, and stakeholder representation.
Structure:
Steering Committee Composition: The members commit to one year and are selected ensure alignment with the mission, equity values, and early strategic needs of the MFSN.
Selection Criteria: Prioritize a cross-section of community voices (nonprofits, public agencies, Chamber of Commerce, grassroots leaders, residents with lived experience, funders).
Evolution: Steering Committee will set the structure for MFSN.
Deliverables:
Approve budget
Discuss and provide feedback for work plan
Provide guidance for the launch of the Navigator Pilot Program
Develop needed task force(s)
