Steering Committee

Our Objectives, Structure and Deliverables

The Steering Committee governs, provides strategic oversight, accountability, and stakeholder representation.

Structure:

  • Steering Committee Composition: Members commit to one year and are selected to ensure alignment with the mission, equity values, and early strategic needs of the MFSN.
  • Selection Criteria: Prioritize a cross-section of community voices (nonprofits, public agencies, Chamber of Commerce, grassroots leaders, residents with lived experience, funders).
  • Evolution: The Steering Committee will set the structure for MFSN.

Deliverables:

  • Approve the annual budget
  • Discuss and provide feedback for the annual work plan
  • Provide guidance for projects and programs funded and overseen by the Manatee Food Security Network, such as the Navigator Pilot Program and the USF Data Mapping Project
  • Develop needed working groups, such as the Cooperative Distribution
